It’s what happens when our basic needs are met. Our standard for how we define “basic needs” changes and we demand more. Before you know it, those things we once called wants are now needs, and those things we once called luxury items are now wants.
How do you feel about the things you wanted now that you have them? Do they still fill that void that was missing?
Instead of just wanting something for the sake of having it, try understanding why you want it. Define where “enough” is and stick to it. Be a little more methodical with how you buy things. Or else the things you own may end up owning you.
P.S. You might also find this strategy helpful when it comes to selling things. It’s no longer about just giving people what they want, but rather, understanding why they want it. Then, taking it one step further and teaching them why they should.
