Lines are the worst, right?
Here’s the thing, we all say we hate waiting in lines, but there is something about them that we love. They make us curious. If we don’t already know what lies at the end of the line, we think to ourselves “if other people are waiting, it must be worth it.”
There are times when we do know what awaits us at the end of the line, like a delicious donut. It’s certainly worth the wait, but we’ve already waited in that line, so it’s time to wait in another line.
Then there are times when we aren’t so sure. So we wait, until it’s our turn, only to either be pleasantly surprised, or utterly disappointed.
Sometimes waiting in line IS worth it, most of the time it's not. And sometimes you don't have a choice. Here's a good rule of thumb: if there's a line, and you have the choice to avoid it, try to avoid it.
The trick is knowing what lines are worth our time.
