I walked past a bike shop that closed its doors after only being in business for less than a year.
I remember visiting this bike shop just a few months ago. I bought a water-bottle cage from them. I didn’t have the right tool with me at the moment so I asked them if they could quickly install it on my bike. Took them about 60 seconds - charged me a $10 installation fee.
They didn’t have any other bikes in the shop at the time and a few of the mechanics were standing around the whole time I was there. Their initiative to milk every penny from their customers led to their ultimate demise.
Sometimes, it pays off big time to do things for free.
