No. 599 / Hierarchy of your career

Hobbies—they’re fun. They’re sometimes arduous, but you get lost doing them. They don’t always have to be monetized, in fact, they rarely should.

Job—something that pays the bills. You might be really good at it but doesn’t mean you should turn it into a career.

Career—a line of work that you care deeply about. Something you’re passionate about. It's okay to not love your job, but you should absolutely love your career. If you don't, find something else.

Vocation—your calling. It's who you are and what you are meant to do. It can be done in any situation, under any circumstance. Regardless of title or status, you'll always be drawn to this kind of work.
