Discipline and passion
[A few notes from listening to Brian Collins speak last night]
You need both discipline and passion if you are going to have an impact, make something meaningful, or invent the future.
Think like a designer. Which is to say, seek problems that need to be solved then care enough to promise something and deliver on that promise.
As Charles Eams said: "The role of the designer is that of a very good, thoughtful host anticipating the needs of his guests." Answer questions others don't know how to ask. Do things others aren't willing to do.
Care—which is a result of passion and discipline.
Love—intense love for what you do and who you do it for.
That's how you reimagine the future. That's how you make something people love.
