The more you use it, the more you have.
If creativity really is like a muscle, then it’s possible to build any given skill or capacity in the same way we build muscle. It’s about pushing past our comfort zone, then resting. Get really intense about it, then stop taking it so seriously. Understand that it’s not your talent that will get you there, but rather, how hard you’re willing to work.
And make no mistake about it, becoming more creative is hard work. It requires delaying gratification so that you can reap the rewards later.
To make things even harder, constant practice isn’t going to cut it. It’s about being deliberate about how you practice. That’s how you improve.
Exercising is hard, but worth it.
